People are being invited to call in and join in the Kings Gardens Volunteer Day this week.

The event takes place this Wednesday (17th September 2025) between 10am and 3pm.

The meeting place will be the Pavilion opposite the adventure playground area.

There is no requirement to stay on site the whole time – even if you have an hour to spare you are welcome to join the Friends Of Kings Gardens, Green Sefton and others in improving this historic Southport park.

Kings Gardens, which surrounds the Marine Lake, includes a popular playground and a number of local attractions, and is a popular site enjoyed by thousands of local families and visitors every year.

The last Kings Gardens clean-up was supported by volunteers from Making Energy Greener, Southport Royal British Legion, Masters Putting Green, Silcock Leisure Group, Southport and West Lancashire Freemasons, local councillors, and others.

Get stuck into some gardening and litter picking, enjoy some great company and make a positive difference to this green space.

This is the first initiative supported by the new Southport Life networking group, organised by Serena Silcock-Prince and Lizzie Barnett, which met for the first time earlier this month.

Each month, Southport Life aims to target a different area of Southport to improve.

Serena Silcock-Prince, the Operations Manager at Silcock Leisure Group, said:

“Let’s work together in our beautiful Southport making our community a better place!

“This Wednesday, we’d love to see people come out and join myself and our Friends Of Kings Gardens team along with Green Sefton and our wonderful volunteers.

“Please comment if you can pop along for any time you can spare…Thank you.”
