Students at a school in Southport are being given the opportunity to contribute ideas to an exciting new business development in their town.
Nearly 200 pupils at Meols Cop High School have been challenged to come up with innovative proposals for the brand new EFT Group offices due to be built soon at Southport Business Park.
An EFT Group spokesperson said:
“EFT Group are really excited to be working alongside the entire Year 7 cohort at Meols Cop High School throughout 2026 on an exciting new project.
“As EFT continues to expand, we are planning the development of our new offices.
“As part of this journey, we are involving the next generation by setting four project briefs for the 194 Year 7 students to work on and develop over the coming year.
“The project launched this week with Finn and Harry from our Construction team, who visited the school to present the project plan and introduce the students to what lies ahead.
“Next week, the students will take part in a full-day session featuring team-building activities before receiving their individual project briefs.
“They will work collaboratively throughout the day to develop their ideas, with winning teams announced for each project.
“We are really looking forward to bringing this Modern Work Experience to life and giving students a real insight into the construction industry, while helping them see how their ideas can contribute to a live development project.”
EFT Group, a local family-run business which employs over 160 local people, is progressing with incredible plans to create new job opportunities, apprenticeships and economic growth.
With support from Sefton Council’s Business and Regeneration team, EFT Group will soon relocate to a long-vacant piece of land at Southport Business Park.
Sefton Council is granting a 999-year lease on plots F, G and H at the Wight Moss Way based business park.
EFT Group, which specialises in life safety, security and construction services and has grown significantly in recent years while still remaining committed to staying in Southport, where it employs a large local workforce and supports school-based apprenticeship schemes.
