Home to one of the UK’s most stunning and popular beaches, the famous Formby pinewoods and a home to the UK’s endangered red squirrel population.

The area has also become home to a number of famous footballers over the years, including Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp and former Liverpool FC Captain Steven Gerrard along with Everton players.

It was recorded in the Domesday Book under ‘Fornebei’, and has a rich Viking heritage. It is a very popular tourist destination in the summer months, with day trippers attracted to its beaches, sand dunes and wildlife, including natterjack toad.

The area is conserved by the National Trust, and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
