Fletchers Solicitors is looking forward to celebrating all those “who work tirelessly and selflessly to make life better for others” at the Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.

The firm is sponsoring the Sefton Unsung Hero Award at the event, which will recognise local heroes from Southport, Crosby, Formby, Bootle, Maghull, and across Sefton.

Over 2,000 nominations have been received this year.

The winners and finalists will be honoured at the Grand on Lord Street in Southport on Friday, 25th April 2025.

Adrian Denson, Chief Legal Officer at Fletchers, said:

“Over 35 years ago, the first Fletchers office opened its doors in Southport with just nine members of staff. Since then, we’ve been grateful to serve the community; we pride ourselves on our roots and take great pride in our presence in the town.

“Our clients come to us during what is arguably one of the most difficult periods of their lives; and we’re privileged to have their trust and to guide them through the journey.

“We are honoured to be sponsoring the Unsung Heroes Award for 2025 as we take the time to celebrate those people who work tirelessly and selflessly to make life better for others.

“After a tremendously difficult year for Southport, we hope that the Grand Pride of Sefton Awards will bring many of us together for an evening designed to recognise and celebrate the victories of those in our community.

“It’s a privilege to be part of these Awards that celebrate these incredible contributions.”

Last year’s winner was Paul Leary

For 46 years, Paul Leary worked as a volunteer at Marine Football Club in a number of roles, including Chairman, since 2004.

Marine has twice won National Community Club of the Year; donated 20,000 lots of kit to Kitaid to Africa; and carried out five major ground developments, raising over £1 million to make the changes.

Recently they launched ambitious plans for a brand new stadium with a 5,000 seater capacity which would elevate the club to a new level.

A Finalist last year was Lynn Abbot

In 1985 Lyn watched a programme on TV All about Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Since then she’s opened her house every November, selling crafts, gifts, and toys, raising over £18,000.
Lyn has also spent decades volunteering at Southport Lifeboat, Southbank Road Methodist Church, Friends of Birkdale Primary School and more.

John Simpson was our second Finalist.

Last year marked 50 years of John being a Scout leader at Holy Family Scout Group.

John as Group Scout leader has mentored not just children but many adults too, helping them become outstanding scout leaders with a fantastic role model to aspire to.
