As the summer sun brightens our seaside town, it’s the perfect season to give back and get involved in the Southport community.

Volunteering during the summer not only supports local causes and brings people together, but it’s also a rewarding way to make a real difference while enjoying the longer days. Whether you’re a student on break, a family looking for meaningful activities, or simply someone with time and passion to share, volunteering offers a chance to connect, contribute, and strengthen the spirit of Southport.

Home Visitor Volunteer for Blind Veterans in Southport

Can you spare some time to brighten someone’s day? Would you like to connect with the older generation? Blind Veterans’ community home visitors provide crucial social interaction for their veterans who can often feel isolated or lonely. By popping by on a regular basis to see a veteran in their area, home visitors are a friendly face that can make all the difference to their lives. A visit could be a simple chat and a cup of tea, helping out with odd jobs around the home that can otherwise be a struggle for our veterans to complete or getting out and about in the local area.

Volunteer Football Coach for young people with intellectual disabilities

Do you love football and want to share your skill with the community? Then volunteer for Southport & Formby Special Athletes as a football coach and bring the joy of football to young people with intellectual disabilities. This is a great way to build your coaching experience while also giving back.

Shoreline Food Bank

Shoreline Food Bank are looking for volunteers to help them between 4-6.30pm Monday to Friday to sort through food deliveries and make up food parcels to pass to those in need. This may include:

·         Making tea and coffee

·         Registering clients

·         Making clients feel welcome

·         Sorting through donations

Volunteer at Lion’s Charity Shop

The Lion’s shop in Ainsdale is looking for volunteers. If you’re looking for a hands-on way to give back this summer, The Lions Charity Shop is calling for volunteers at their Furniture Store and Donations Drop-Off Centre at Station Road, Ainsdale.

This vital community hub plays a big role in supporting local causes, and they need helping hands—especially those who are reasonably fit and able to lift items like sofas, tables, cupboards, bags, and boxes. Some tasks also involve navigating stairs and moving donation cages between locations.
