Books Alive paid partnership
Today (Saturday 31st October 2026) is the final time to enjoy The Jolly Postman Trail in Southport town centre!
During the final weekend of the October Half Term, you can explore nine large-scale story installations between 10am and 4pm in locations including Wayfarers Arcade; Southport Market; Beales shop window; the Town Hall Gardens; and the Mermaid Gardens.

Inspired by the beloved children’s book ‘The Jolly Postman or Other People’s Letters’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg, The Jolly Postman Trail transforms Southport town centre into a living storybook, inviting families to follow his journey as he delivers letters to favourite fairytale characters.
Make CIC has been commissioned to work with artists from across the Liverpool City Region to create the nine installations and bring memorable characters and moments from the story to life.

The installations can be visited in any order, so you can create your own storybook adventure through the town centre.
There are maps available on the Visit Southport website and in locations including The Atkinson and Southport Library.
