The Easter Bunny is delighted to have delivered almost 1,000 Easter Eggs to Alder Hey Children’s Charity and Sefton Children’s Trust, with the help of Dune Radio’s annual Easter Egg Appeal.

For this year’s appeal, Dune Radio partnered up with lots of organisations across Southport, including Linaker Primary School.

Headteacher, Mrs Holmes, was delighted for the school to be taking part.

She said: “I’d like to thank Dune Radio for this fabulous opportunity, bringing a little extra joy at Easter to many children in receipt of the support of these amazing charities. I’d also like to thank Mrs Taylor who heads up our School Council for bringing the school community together to raise such an impressive number of chocolate eggs.”

Public donation points were also set up across Southport, with several at Ocean Plaza Leisure, including Starbucks, Coastline Crossfit and Playtown.

Centre manager Tracey Johnson met with Mayor of Sefton, Cllr June Burns who collected an entire car-load of eggs which she took to Sefton Children’s Trust.

More donations were collected at Southport supermarkets, Morrisons and Asda which the generous people of Southport kindly gave by the hundreds.

To top the numbers up even more, local supermarket community champions, Anna Ingram at Morrisons in Southport and Sharon Gregory-Wareing at Asda in Southport rustled up extra cases of eggs donated by the supermarket bosses too.

To help with all the collections and deliveries, Southport College kindly lent Dune Radio their minibus and driver, along with another generous stack of eggs.

Dune Radio Content Director, Andy Hilbert said: “Raising almost 1000 eggs absolutely smashed last year’s number of 600 eggs, I’m really made up.

“The two fantastic charities receiving all these eggs were absolutely ‘eggstatic’ about our donation.

“I don’t know how we’re going to top this next year but that’s not going to stop the team at Dune from trying!”
