A Southport woman whose Mum is being treated in hospital for suspected Coronavirus is urging others to Be Kind – and stop being judgemental.
Jayne Wilson contacted Stand Up For Southport after going out for a walk, and was shocked by some people’s reactions.
Current Government guidelines allow people to go outside for food, health reasons or essential work.
Jayne said: “I have just walked the dogs through Birkdale Village with my sister and had people shaking their heads at us.
“I have cohabited with my sister for 13 years now, we share the same kitchen / bathroom, living room, dining table, etc, I do not have to keep two metres away from her!
Driving along Southport coast is not how to take your exercise
“Nobody was judging the couples walking hand in hand together or the mother and daughter we passed.
“People need to just stop and think before making judgments without knowing the facts.
“We more than anyone know how important social distancing is as OUR mother is seriously ill in hospital at this present time, possibly with the virus.
“We are waiting to find out, and have been unable to visit her for the past 10 days.
“A pleasant walk around the village first thing in the morning is a welcome break from sitting in worrying and waiting for news but to then receive negative gestures is just upsetting.
“Please could the residents of Birkdale please just stop and think before jumping to conclusions, not every situation may be how it seems!”
