A dance school is looking forward to opening new premises inside a former bank in Southport.
The former Lloyds Bank building at 140 Cambridge Road, Churchtown, will shortly be opening as dance studios and the new home of DBA School of Dance Ltd and Babyballet Southport.
Local dance teachers Rebekah Ryan and Jennifer Berrett have been working very hard with family and friends over recent weeks to convert the former banking hall in order to realise a long term ambition of establishing their own dance studios.
Even during the recent extraordinary times, their joint business of DBA School of Dance Ltd has gone from strength to strength.
Rebekah and Jennifer are looking forward to opening their own premises where they can inspire the next generation of dancers to ‘Dream, Believe and Achieve’.
Rebekah, 30, and Jennifer, 38, both trained in professional dance and studied to be dance teachers at Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre, Liverpool.
They both went on to enjoy successful dance careers performing on cruise ships such as MSC, SAGA and NYK Lines and on many stages in the UK and around the world.
Now settled in their home town of Southport, Rebekah and Jennifer – known to thousands of budding ballet stars as Miss Rebekah and Miss Jennifer – have been working together for nearly a decade at Babyballet, established in 2010 by Jennifer for pre-school children. The dancing duo went on to establish their own upper school DBA School of Dance Ltd in 2019.

With four children under five of their own, both hard-working and determined mums-of-two are excited that they have been given the opportunity to open their own studio to share their passion and love for dance with the local community.
Currently providing high quality ballet and tap dancing lessons for primary school aged children through DBA School of Dance Ltd, the new venue will also be the home for their pre-school, Babyballet Southport.
Both schools share the same values and ethos of creating a dance experience for little ones that is both magical and educational.
Jenniffer Berrett said: “We’re delighted to have our own studio where we can encourage the next generation to be the best they can be through dance.

“We’re especially proud considering the difficulties recently experienced through the pandemic.
“Like so many other children’s activity providers, we have strived to deliver the best service we could during very unique and challenging times, but getting back into our classes, doing what we love, and now having our own designated studio makes it all so worthwhile.
“We couldn’t have even dreamed of having our own studio without the support from our families and wider community and are now excited to share it with our amazing teachers, parents, carers of both DBA Students and Babyballet stars.”
As DBA School of Dance Ltd and Babyballet Southport prepare to dance into 2022 bookings are now open for the new year and new venue. Now has never been a better time to get involved and to learn to dance.
