Southport BID story by Stand Up For Southport
Crowds enjoyed the annual Classic Car and Motorcycle Transport Fundraising Event, which was organised and hosted by Southport Auto Centre on Saturday (24th June 2023).
Visitors admired hundreds of vintage and classic cars, motorbikes, steam engines and a vintage fire engine outside the venue, on Wright Street in Southport town centre, and on adjacent car parks including at Southport College and Southport Centre for Health and Wellbeing.

The event was designed to raise funds for Southport Lifeboat and the Macmillan cancer charity.
Local radio station Mighty FM were there with their trailer, playing live music, with DJs Paul Tasker and Trevor Ford – plus a special appearance from Spiderman!

Special cars on display will include one driven by Sir Roger Moore in the original TV series The Saint, plus some related memorabilia.
The Volvo Vintage Owners Club brought along a host of vehicles.

There was a classic 1925 pianola, raffles, clothing stalls, and prizes for the best vehicles on display.
The road was closed off for the event.

Southport Auto Centre owner Chris Regan said: “We held our annual fundraising open day to help raise much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support and Southport Offshore Rescue Trust, Southport Lifeboat.
“We had five car parks full of vehicles for people to come and see with lots of vintage cars, classic motorbikes, a vintage fire engine, and enjoyed having Mighty Radio join us.

“There was lots going on for visitors to enjoy!”
Speaking on the Stand Up For Southport Facebook group, Tracey Courtney said: “These guys have been looking after all the family’s cars for many years and a grand job they do too.”

Kieran Wallace said: “It was an amazing event with very caring staff who were very approachable.”
Susan Taylor said: “That’s why the old fire engine was driving around! It went by too quickly, plus waving and sounding their bell, for me to get a photo, and it would have been rude not to wave back.”

Chris Regan has run Southport Auto Centre for the past 22 years as a professional, friendly, family-run business.
It is the only independent Volvo specialist in the North West.

Fully trained technicians use only the latest technology and equipment, such as the Volvo VIDA diagnostics system (vehicle information and diagnostics after sales) and TIE (Technical Information Exchange) which enables them to diagnostic fault trace the complete range of Volvo vehicles.
