The primary pupils from Merefield Special School enjoyed a truly magical start to the festive season thanks to the generosity of Elsie’s Story and Santa’s Secret Forest.
Children at the school, which is based in Ainsdale in Southport, were among the very first to see this spectacular new regional attraction, which opened its doors last Friday (21st November 2025).
Jo Sharpe, Headteacher of Merefield School, said:
“Our pupils were so lucky to be treated to an exclusive, sensory and inclusive day meeting Santa and his elves while exploring the many wonderful rooms in the workshop. The joy on the children’s faces was priceless.
“This incredibly kind donation from Elsie’s Story provided a memorable and much-needed opportunity for our students to experience the magic of Christmas.
“Santa’s Secret Forest has made a special effort to ensure the attraction is fully accessible and inclusive for everyone.”

“It has been so lovely for us to partner with Santa’s Secret Forest this year.
“Together, we’ve helped make it possible for 51 students from Merefield School in Ainsdale, Southport to enjoy a magical experience.
“When we visited the school a few months ago, it left a lasting impression on us.
“It’s such an incredible and supportive environment for the children, and it stayed with us. So, when the opportunity arose to create something special for the children, the Elsie team and Santa’s Secret Forest worked closely with the school to make sure every detail of their visit was just right.
“The staff were fantastic, and the care that went into planning this visit really showed.
“Seeing the excitement as the children arrived filled a very special page in Elsie’s Story with smiles.
“A huge thank you to Carole and the Santa’s Secret Forest team for making this day so special for the children and the incredible staff at Merefield.”
