People can enjoy a weekend of live events from the comfort of their own car with the launch of Car Party! in Southport.
Over three days and nights, visitors can enjoy: a Rubix 80s Video DJ Party with DJs Steve Mitchell and Danny Bee; a Car Party Kids Club – Fundamental Game Show with Phil Todd; UK Party band Boomin; and a Sunday Selection of Old Skool Anthems with Baz Todd and Mark Freejack.
The shows, some suitable for families and others for adults, will be held at the Fairways Park and Ride site in Southport on August 21, 22 and 23.
They are being organised by UK Media and Events Limited, owned by Danny Bee.
Danny Bee and Steve Mitchell are well-known figures in the North West, having worked as radio and event DJs as well as organising the iconic Rubix ‘80s and ‘90s party nights in Southport.
They said: “Car Party is a series of socially distanced outdoor drive-in events that will take place over three days. If you order refreshments such as soft drinks, popcorn, hotdogs etc, we will bring them to your car.
“We have arranged this after holding discussions with Sefton Council and Merseyside Police.
“We will have a stage, lighting and a huge screen!
“After purchasing their tickets, cars pull onto the car park and enjoy the shows. The area is the old Fairways park and ride site on Fairways, north of the Promenade, opposite the Sandpipers centre.
“The audio will be on an FM frequency and broadcast via people’s car radios.
“We wanted to put on an event which met Government guidelines, and staying put in a car ticked the boxes.
“The guests can expect a show, sat in their cars while watching the acts on stage and also on a massive screen. Apart from playing the hits and showing music videos on the screen, we will be interacting with the guests.
“Over the three days, we will produce five shows, each around two hours long.
“The first show will be on Friday evening, then two shows on Saturday and two shows and Sunday.
“Each show consists of live entertainment produced whilst socially distancing. You will be requested to stay in your vehicles for the duration of the show only getting out to use the on-site toilets, where social distancing protocols will be in operation.
“Gates will open 45 minutes before each show starts to enable our stewards time to park your vehicles in the required positions enabling good viewing of both the 40m² stage and the 46²m screen.
“Once vehicles are parked, you will be able to tune into our FM transmitter to hear the audio from the show on your car stereo.
“We will also use a live camera crew to film both the stage activity and your reactions in your vehicles live on our 46sqm LED screen – this could be your big moment!
“At the end of each show or performance, the vehicles will be directed to leave in sections at a time to leave from the arena or event site.
“Be quick purchasing the limited amount of tickets available and please arrive on time, we don’t want you to miss a thing.”
