Two British Army soldiers have begun a gruelling 48 hour challenge to raise as much money as they can for the Elsie’s Story charity.
Best mates Lee Dye and Brandon Turton began their challenge today (Thursday 7th August 2025) and will continue this Friday and Saturday in memory of Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Alice da Silva Aguiar.

They said: “We are taking part in a charity challenge in Southport to support Elsie’s Story Charitable Trust.
“We’re running four miles every four hours for 48 hours in military kit carrying 20kg to help raise both awareness and funds for this meaningful cause.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve had from both Elsie’s Story and The Lord Street Hotel, who have generously offered us free accommodation for the duration of the event.
“We’re taking on this gruelling physical and mental challenge to raise money for a cause that means a lot to us.
“Between 7th August and 9th August, we’ll be completing the 4x4x48 challenge:
“That’s 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours straight, a total of 48 miles in just two days. But we’re not making it easy for ourselves…

“We’ll be doing it in full military kit, including boots, and carrying 20kg in our bergens (military backpacks) every step of the way.
“This event will take place in Southport.
“We’re taking this on not just as a test of grit, but to raise awareness and funds for Elsie’s Story.
“Whether you’re able to donate, share this page, or simply cheer us on, your support means the world to us. Every pound raised helps make a difference.
“Thank you for standing with us.”
