Sponsors are being sought to support the 3rd Botanic Gardens Family Fun Day.

This year’s event will take place at the Botanic Gardens in Churchtown in Southport on Father’s Day (Sunday, 16th June 2024).

The past two years have seen thousands of families enjoy a park full of attractions for people of all ages.

Last year’s fun day saw over £3,000 raised, with every penny going to support vital improvements to the historic park, which is largely maintained by volunteers from the Botanic Gardens Community Association.

The Headline Sponsor for the past two years was Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery in Southport, with organisers looking forward to continuing that partnership this year.

But after the sudden and immediate closure of the nursery at the end of January, organisers are now seeking support from other local businesses to ensure the event can go ahead as planned.

Botanic Gardens Family Fun Day organiser Jess Rickers said: “I have been organising the Botanic Gardens Family Fun Day for a couple of years now. This will be year 3 of our event.

“We raise awareness about the park itself, along with thousands of pounds which goes towards the upkeep of the park including the lake and other features, for local families and visitors to enjoy.

“We work alongside the volunteers from the Botanic Gardens Community Association.

“This is a huge and inclusive community event for everyone.

“It’s free and includes everything from jazz music, live radio, kids dance performances, donkeys, fairground rides, bubbles, face painting, birds of prey and so on.

“I have in previous years enjoyed support from Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery to sponsor the fun day as it’s a family event.

“They utilised it to promote the nursery for intake alongside supporting a safe outdoor space for children’s futures.

“Unfortunately, Monkey Puzzle in Southport has recently closed suddenly leaving us needing to find sponsors.

“The sponsorship includes being listed on all marketing, social media shouts and advertising in the run-up to the event and a stall included if you wish.

“We would love to hear from any local businesses who would like to support this popular annual Southport community event which raises vital funds for the upkeep of this wonderful park.”

Last year the Botanic Gardens Family Fun Day raised an impressive £3,000.

All the money raised at the busy event was reinvested into maintaining and improving the popular park which is largely looked after by volunteers.
