One of the best restaurants in Merseyside is looking forward to showing off its new investment and its award winning food at Southport Food and Drink Festival this weekend.

The Tik Taco Mexican Cantina, which is situated on Coronation Walk in Southport town centre, has won several awards including being honoured as a Restaurant of the Year Finalist in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards in February.

Tik Taco is famous for its authentic, freshly cooked Mexican food and drinks, including tasty tacos and delicious nachos.

In recent months, the eatery has expanded its presence at some of the major events in the North West – and is always a popular sight at Southport Food and Drink Festival at Victoria Park.

Owner and head chef Anthony Greenland said:

“We have invested in a purpose built food trailer and I’m really excited to be bringing it to Southport Food and Drink Festival this weekend!

“It’s the next step in what we’re doing and where we want to go.

“We have got a packed summer ahead which is why we invested in the trailer.

“The events side of our business has really grown. We cover events such as Chester Races; Ludlow Castle; Southport Flower Show, New Brighton Food and Drink Festival and others.

“Some of these event organisers have approached Tik Taco after seeing what we do at Southport Food and Drink Festival, so it’s been a superb platform.

“Southport Food and Drink Festival is somewhere I always enjoy. It’s really busy!

“At the restaurant, I’m always in the kitchen, so it’s nice to do this festival, and meet more people.

“We will once again be selling a selection of different tacos, nachos, and bottles of Jarritos, the authentic Mexican soft drink which people love.

“The weather is looking great for the next few days so it looks like we’ll be attracting the crowds back to Victoria Park! I can’t wait.

“It should be a really great weekend for Southport.

“After people have spent time at the festival, there are so many great restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in Southport, it’s a superb place to stay and enjoy the whole weekend here.”

Tik Taco Mexican Cantina started four years ago during the Covid in lockdown, where it began as a pop-up.

Since then it has flourished, first as a takeaway, and then as a restaurant.

Tik Taco is also a popular sight catering at large North West events such as Southport Flower Show and Southport Food and Drink Festival, while also being popular for its takeaway services, including its famous ‘Taco Tuesdays’.

Tik Taco is a real family-run venue, with head chef and owner, Anthony Greenland, being in charge.

Anthony opened Tik Taco after seeing a gap in the market in Southport. He travelled all over the world before deciding to come back home.

He said: “Mexican food is all about sharing with friends and family.

“People can sit down together and share a bit of everything, it’s a great way to interact!”

Food lovers from across the North West are getting excited about the mouthwatering return of the Southport Food and Drink Festival for 2025.

Taking place from Friday 30th May to Sunday 1st June in Southport’s Victoria Park, the three-day festival of tantalising treats is a firm favourite in the region’s events calendar. And this year promises to bring even more flavour, flair and fantastic experiences for festival goers.

People can look forward to a vibrant atmosphere filled with international street food, locally produced delicacies, artisan goods, refreshing beverages, and live music.

With free entry for all, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy a memorable day out by the coast.
