The Atkinson Wellbeing Choir in Southport returns on Tuesday, 7th September 2021 – and people are being invited to come down and join in!

Visitors are also welcome to watch the choir in action, with admission free, although donations are welcome.

The event takes place between 10am and midday.

The Atkinson Wellbeing Choir is funded by The Atkinson Development Trust and Liverpool CVS.

The choir was launched in 2019 with the aim to bring joy and a sense of community to people who felt isolated or needed a new challenge.

As well as being fun and providing an opportunity to meet new friends, research has shown joining a choir improves your mental health, confidence and increases your sense of belonging.

Led by Caroline Darbyshire of CD Music Academy, the choir sings a variety of songs from ‘Do You Love Me’ by The Contours to Lewis Capaldi’s ‘Someone You Loved’. There are also opportunities to perform in community concerts.

The choir is open to all abilities for anyone over the age of 18 and is free to attend, donations are welcomed. Come along, sign up and have a go!

One choir member said: “I love to sing, and for two hours a week, I can forget all my worries and forget I am a carer, it gives me a boost and helps me face the rest of the week.”

Another said: “It has given me a sense of belonging and a connection with like minded people. Also a sense of purpose.”

Another choir member said: “I feel so calm and uplifted after spending time singing with such nice people.”
