Local artist Ruth Spillane has thanked fans who came to the book launch of ‘Southport Illustrated’ on Saturday (7th October 2023).
The event was held at Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant, a very fitting location as Silcock’s Funland, Silcock’s Carousel and Southport Pier all feature within the pages.
Other scenes include: various sections of Lord Street, The Grand, The Atkinson, Wayfarers Arcade, Southport Pier, Churchtown Village, Birkdale Village, Southport Market Quarter, June The Florist, Hesketh Park, The Big Wheel and Dune Radio, and more.
Ruth is a local artist who lives in Southport with her three children: Caolan, Rowan and Evie, her dog Coco and rabbits Maple and Mango.

She loves drawing beautiful buildings and architecture in their surroundings, adding a touch of nostalgia to each painting with colourful and vibrant colours.
Ruth uses pencil, inks, watercolours and digital drawing to create her unique illustration style.
She said: “I would like to thank everyone who turned up to my book launch at Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant on Saturday!

“It was great to meet a few people face to face who follow my art online through social media.
“I am looking forward to organising some more book signings soon for Southport Illustrated.”

“The response from people who came to the launch has been really positive, I am sure it is going to do really well.

Ruth Spillane’s works include four self-published books, along with prints, cards, tote bags and calendars sold in retailers across the Southport area and online.
She has also drawn and designed illustrations for a wide variety of local businesses and has a large client base in Southport.
