A fundraising appeal has been set up to help a Southport quizmaster after his home in Southport was burgled.
Dave Orritt runs the quizzes at the Cock and Bottle in Tarleton and other local pubs.
During lockdown, he has also been a familiar face in the Stand Up For Southport Facebook group, running free Quizinators twice a week to keep people entertained during the coronavirus lockdown.
His apartment near Marine Lake was raided on Saturday (August 15) with a number of his possessions taken.
His friend Alison Coates has now set up a fundraiser on the Go Fund Me platform in order to help him.
She said: “Many of you will know Dave Orritt, who runs the quizzes at the Cock and Bottle in Tarleton and other local pubs.
“On Saturday he was burgled. He got home to find his MacBook Pro 2020, iPad and the kids’ tablets had all been stolen from their flat in Southport.
“I would imagine that this is going to have an impact on future quizzes, which he has been running online from home during lockdown, so this is an appeal for help from our wonderful community.
“Bad things happen to good people, but Dave is one of the best out there.

“He has spent lockdown entertaining locals and many others from further afield with his great quizzes every week – for free!
“He was massively supportive to me personally when he helped raise money for my husband’s medical treatment, and again when he provided his services for our charity launch.
“I am in no doubt that he will have done other kind things for countless other people too, because that’s just the kind of person he is.
“If you can spare anything at all, that would be wonderful.
“Dave has been relying on voluntary donations from his online quizzes during lockdown and has put so much time and effort into creating them, so this is a huge kick in the teeth.
“Please help if you can.”
