Animal lovers in Southport enjoyed a very special Royal Pawty hosted by Jollyes – The Pet People to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III, with hundreds of pounds raised for a local charity.
The event was held at Southport Market as dogs tucked into a delicious feast with food provided by Lifestage.
There were delicious puppuccinos and dog cakes served by Barklays dog cafe in Churchtown.
Guests and their pets were entertained by jazz, soul and blues guitarist Vernon Fuller, while there were pop-up Lollye and Barklays stalls.
Dogs and any other pets were able to have their pictures taken on the Royal Throne as well as with the selfie boards provided by Jollyes.
People were able to win prizes with the famous Jollyes Wheel Of Fur-tune and goody bags were handed out along with refreshments for pet owners.
The event started with a fundraising walk which began from the Jollyes store at Kew Retail Park in Southport with lots of dog walkers and their pets wearing regal attire!
There was a fancy dress competition, with a £50 Jollyes voucher given to the winner.
Participants then walked along Scarisbrick New Road and Eastbank Street to Southport Market, where the regal celebrations took place.
All the funds raised went to the Little Legs dogs rehoming charity in Southport.
The small, family-run charity takes in dogs in need of rehoming before matching them with their perfect forever homes.
Jollyes Southport Store Manager Jonny Wareing said:
“We loved celebrating the Royal Coronation of King Charles III in style and were delighted to see so many pets and pet owners for our Royal Pawty!
“The Jollyes team enjoyed meeting everyone at what was a really lovely way to
celebrate the King’s Coronation.”
The charity is completely self-funded and is very grateful to those who choose to support them.
Little Legs founder Christina Mather-Bateman said:
“We had a wonderful time! We raised £560 in total from the day and also took home lots of donated dog food and treats from Jollyes.
“We loved seeing some of our adopted dogs joining us for the walk too.
“Jollyes have been so supportive of us and we are very grateful, the sun shone and we all had a lovely time.
“We would like to thank Barklays, Southport Market and Joanna Rose Photography.”
Barklays owner Lesley Morgan-Macbain said:
“An amazing day was had by all for the Jollyes and Little Legs Royal Pawty!
“I’d like to say thank you to all who walked on behalf of Barklays.dog cafe in Churchtown.
“We were so excited to be involved and have a stall at this amazing event.
“We help Christina at the Little Legs charity as much as we can to raise funds for much-needed medical costs.
“We are a designated drop-off point for supplies and we also have a donation link to our business page and charity donation pot in the cafe.
“We look forward to being involved with future events and hope everyone has had a wonderful Coronation weekend.”
