KGV Sixth Form College in Southport is celebrating its 100 year anniversary in 2026 and is inviting former students, staff and members of the local community to share their stories, photographs and memories as part of the centenary.

A programme of events will take place throughout the year, bringing together alumni, current students, staff and the wider Southport community to mark a century of education at the site.

The college was originally founded in 1920 as Southport Municipal Secondary School for Boys and moved to Scarisbrick New Road in 1926, reopening as King George V Grammar School following special permission to adopt the name of the reigning monarch.

Since then, KGV has continued to evolve, becoming a mixed-gender college in 1979 and a specialist sixth form provider in 1982.

Today, KGV Sixth Form College remains a thriving post-16 institution for young people from across Southport and beyond.

Recent investment includes the new Creative Arts Building, home to The George Theatre and expanded performing arts provision, with new football pitches opening later this year in partnership with Southport Football Club.

As part of the centenary celebrations, KGV Sixth Form College is calling on anyone with a connection to the college, past or present, to help bring its history to life by submitting memories and images from the last 100 years.
