Coopers bar & eatery in Southport town centre has been hailed as “a brilliant example of the live music potential we have here in our town” with people urged to support the popular venue.
Coopers was opened on Leicester Street in Southport seven years ago and has grown a reputation as one of the town’s premier live music venues.
It’s a relaxing, cosy bar and eatery supporting a range of sounds including jazz, rock and pop.
Southport MP Patrick Hurley said: “I spent Friday afternoon down at Coopers Bar to learn more about the existing grassroots music scene here in Southport.
“Coopers Bar is a brilliant example of the live music potential we have here in our town. Since opening seven years ago, they have hosted a wide range of acts, with regular open mic, acoustic and jam nights helping to give local musicians a platform to perform.

“Last year was a particularly successful one, from hosting Southport’s first ever Blues festival in July, which brought visitors from all over the country, to running a talent competition in December, offering a £500 cash prize and giving local acts a chance to showcase their talents.
“This year also promises big things, with plans underway for the bar to open an even bigger venue. Partnering up with Tides Out, a free to use music recording studio, the new music hub will feature a top-class live music space, a retail music store, a café, a live recording and rehearsal studio and offer instrument repairs services, all right here in Southport.

“Coopers is a clear example of the appetite for live music performance in our town, and as we come to the end of Independent Venue Week, I wanted to shine a light on Coopers as a gold-standard example of a local independent venue that truly provides a platform for grassroots music to prosper.
“Coopers truly deserves all the support that we can give them, so don’t just take my word for it, get down, enjoy some brilliant live music and support an integral part of Southport’s cultural and creative community.”
Coopers bar is at 4-5 Leicester Street, Southport. Follow them on Facebook here: (20+) Facebook
