Visitors to Ainsdale Local Nature Reserve in Southport should be aware that the latest stage of winter dune management work has started on the site today.
Large diggers will be used to remove invasive Sea Buckthorn and Birch scrub in an area south of the Pontins site to the south of Shore Road.
This work will improve the quality of low-lying slack areas, opening up a landscape currently swamped with invasive scrub.
The work is possible through the DEFRA-funded Countryside Stewardship Scheme carried out by Green Sefton using contractors and core staff.
The work will take place in the north east corner of the fenced cattle enclosure area – if you are planning to walk through this site during the next few weeks please keep this in mind, and of course, keep dogs on a lead in the enclosures at all times.
