A brand new food outlet – Brunch N’ Bagel – is opening inside Southport Market!

This delicious new food venture will offer a range of New York inspired bagels, brunches and jacket potatoes, with the slogan ‘A Whole Lotta’ Brunch’!

Brunch N’ Bagel will open this Friday (17th October 2025) and will be the first outlet in Southport Market to serve food from 10am in the morning, staying open until 4pm each day.

It is the second food concept to be launched by Southport entrepreneur and food creator Leanne Prescott, 24, who already operates the successful Cake Corner units in Southport Market and in Hillside in Southport.

There is a packed menu on offer, with brunch choices including: The Classic Smash (classic avocado topped with poached eggs and caramelised red onion chutney with a dusting of chilli flakes); Chorizo Scramble (fluffy scrambled eggs with honey glazed chorizo and cherry tomatoes); The Big Brunch Bite (Cumberland sausages, crispy bacon, eggs cooked your way, tater tots, beans, black pudding, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes).

There are four regular Bagels to choose from including: The Breakfast One (Cumberland Sausage, crispy bacon, fried egg and golden tater tots with melted cheese; The Club One (battered chicken with crispy bacon, lettuce and tomato with a drizzle of mayonnaise); The Caprese One (pesto, creamy mozzarella and tomatoes on peppery rocket with balsamic glaze); and The Buffalo One (crispy battered chicken tenders coated in Frank’s buffalo sauce with coleslaw and pickles) plus a simple Bagel With Cream Cheese.

There will be a regular Bagel Of The Month starting to appear in the next few weeks.

Diners can tuck into fluffy jacket potatoes with a selection of toppings and sauces.

Children can enjoy a special Kids Lunch Box which features a sandwich of your choice along with a packet of crisps, dried fruit and a mini Cake Corner brownie, which also comes with a logo print out of the Brunch N’ Bagel character – Barry the Bagel – plus some colouring pencils.

Leanne Prescott said:

“I’m really excited to be opening Brunch N’ Bagel!

“It’s been inspired by my trips to New York, where I enjoyed trying lots of their delicious bagels.

“They were amazing. We don’t have anything similar to this in Southport so I thought it would do well.

“All the outlets in the market open at lunchtime so I thought we really needed somewhere that opened earlier too, offering some tasty brunches – we have some really healthy versions and some indulgent ones too!

“It’s somewhere new and exciting for people to come and try.

“I have seen the huge interest in jacket potatoes recently particularly among young people with the success of the likes of Spud Bros so I feel that is something that will be very popular here too.

“My team and I have been doing a lot of research, trying a lot of different things, and have taken on lots of feedback to make sure we get everything right.

“The response we have had about our ideas has been brilliant – people seem pretty excited about it!

“We are able to offer catering for events such as weddings, functions and parties which take place inside Southport Market too.

“One of the things we have introduced is special vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. We want everyone to be included.”

Leanne has seen her business thrive ever since she founded Cake Corner at home, aged 17, in 2018.

She opened her first Cake Corner shop in Hillside in 2021 and her outlet inside Southport Market six months later.

Cake Corner is a regular sight at big events including Southport Food & Drink Festival, Southport Flower Show, the Ainsdale Show and others.

Cake Corner also operates at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk five times a month.

There are 12 members of staff on the team.

Leanne is so pleased to be at Southport Market, she has now opened her second venture there.

She said: “I love being in Southport Market. It has such a lovely family atmosphere and there are always so many great events happening.

“There are so many things taking place over the next few months, especially during October Half Term, around Halloween and in the lead-up to Christmas!

“Once the public realm improvements happening outside Southport Market are finished, it is going to be fantastic. Market Street is a superb site for events space and there will be lots of space for people to sit outside. It’s going to be the place to be next Spring and Summer!

“There are so many great local independent traders in the market, all selling something very different.

“Our meat at Brunch N’ Bagel comes from Blackhurst Butchers inside Southport Market. We all enjoy supporting each other.

“It’s a brilliant place to be and I hope people enjoy our brand new Brunch N’ Bagel.”
