As Southport Football Club play Halifax Town in the FA Cup on Saturday (11th October 2025),
There will be a very special guest at Haig Avenue.
99 year old Trevor Hitchen will be attending the game and enjoying Corporate Hospitality in the lounge ahead of the match.
Trevor is Southport FC’s oldest surviving former manager and is believed to be the seventh oldest surviving former Football League player.
There is one problem!. Trevor doesn’t know which team to support and will be wearing a Halifax Town scarf and a Southport FC scarf at the game!
Trevor was born in Halifax and made his Football League debut for The Shaymen before going on to play 247 times for The Sandgrounders and then becoming Port’s manager.

Southport FC are looking forward to a bumper crowd and an exciting day of FA Cup action with the visit of in-form, high-flying National League side FC Halifax Town.
The attendance will hopefully be swelled by the lack of Premier League fixtures this weekend.
The kick-off is at 3pm and it is an all-pay game. Tickets can be ordered online up until kick off here. There is no reserved seating for this game.
Tickets are priced at Ground & Main Stand £14 Adults Concession £11 Junior £6 Child Under 12 £1. It is a segregated match.
The September Player Of The Month will receive his award on the pitch ahead of kick-off.
The weather is set fair and a good crowd is expected with a place in the Emirates FA Cup First Round draw at stake.
Southport FC have played Halifax Town and FC Halifax on many occasions in the past, the last time was a behind closed doors game due to Coid in 2020-21 which Southport won 2-1 at The Shay.
Former fans favourite Josh Hmami is in the FC Halifax ranks and they come here in great form winning their last five games. So far this season they have won 4 drawn 1 and lost 3 on the road.
