This weekend is the final chance to apply for support from the Southport Recovery Voluntary, Community & Faith (VCF) Sector Grant Fund.
The Southport Recovery VCF Sector Grant funding is available to aid recovery efforts in the wake of the tragic events of July 2024, which claimed the lives of three young girls and deeply affected the Southport community.
Applications for the grant are closing this Sunday 23rd February 2025
Since its launch, the Southport Strong Together Appeal, with two other major fundraising appeals, has distributed more than £830,000 to support the families affected, local schools and community projects. This second round of community funding builds on that momentum, prioritising applications from groups that have not yet received support.
The Southport Strong Together Appeal was set up by the Community Foundation for Merseyside last year.
Who Can Apply?
The grants programme is open to VCF sector groups based in or delivering services to Southport residents. Key funding priorities include:
- Promoting community cohesion and anti-racism initiatives.
- Providing mental health and well-being support, such as counselling.
- Developing youth programmes to foster engagement and safety.
- Supporting vulnerable groups through community reassurance initiatives.
- Offering training and capacity building for local organisations.
- Facilitating intergenerational and interfaith activities to strengthen community bonds.
