Thirty senior citizens will sit down to enjoy lunch at Bistrot Pierre in Southport today thanks to the generosity of local people.

The diners are all members of the Sefton Older Persons’ Forum.

They are looking forward to gathering to enjoy their lunch together at the popular French restaurant, on the corner of Lord Street and Nevill Street in Southport town centre.

The trip has been organised by Sefton Advocacy, which provides support to adults in the borough to enable them to speak their views on issues or services.

Volunteer Coordinator and Older Persons’ Coordinator for Sefton Advocacy Jo Henderson said: “Bistrot Pierre in Southport has been working on a project for older people.

“They said that for every six meals sold in December, one free meal would be provided to an older Sefton resident.

“Today, 30 members of the Sefton Older Persons’ Forum will be sitting down to eat a three course meal, courtesy of Bistrot Pierre.

“This is an amazing project, which deserves recognition.”
