Bistrot Vérité in Southport has been honoured as one of just 14 Merseyside eateries named in the 2023 AA Restaurant Guide.
The stylish venue in Birkdale Village was the only place in Southport to feature in the latest prestigious publication, with Liverpool and Wirral featuring heavily.
The AA Restaurant Guide is an esteemed guide to the best quality restaurants up and down the UK, granting establishments ‘rosettes’ as awards.
The AA states: “AA Rosettes are solely awarded by our hotel and restaurant Inspectors, and external influences from hotels, restaurants or other guides are not taken into account. About 10% of restaurants nationwide are of a standard that is worthy of one Rosette and above.”
The 2023 edition of the Restaurant Guide is out now.

Bistrot Vérité owner Marc Vérité said:
“I’m made up for all the Bistrot team / family.
“It’s been a very challenging and gruelling couple of years for everyone, with having to close and then doing takeout meals and then reopening then closing again which unfortunately meant inevitably losing some of the Bistrot team / family.
“But we have come back stronger and feel at the moment we have a great team both front of house and in the kitchen who are all enjoying what we have done since day one, which is serving an ever-changing menu which excites us all in the kitchen, as we all work together to put on new exciting seasonal dishes.
“That is just as important as giving good, professional and friendly service to our guests.
“We would like to say a massive thanks to all our customers for their continued support, it really means a lot to us all.”
Bistrot Vérité is a family-run restaurant in the truest sense of the word.
It was founded by chef Marc Vérité, who realised a lifelong ambition and opened his eponymous venue after working in France and in Belgium.
Today his son Jacques is head chef at the restaurant while son Charlie is front of house manager. Marc’s wife Michaela is also at the restaurant each day while Marc’s dad, the famous baker Claude Vérité – the former owner of Claude’s in Churchtown – used to help out with patisserie before he sadly passed away.

The business, which employs 10-12 members of staff, grew recently with the opening of Le Petite Vérité, in the unit next door to the bistrot.
