The brand new Pasta 51 Express outlet at Southport Market is now open!
The venture sells a choice of fresh, home-made Italian pasta such as pappardelle, penne, orecchiette or spaghetti bucatini, paired with a selection of slow-cooked authentic Italian sauces such as arrabiata, bolognese, boscaiola, carbonara, chorizo e zola, and others.
Diners can also tuck into fresh ravioli, lasagne, parmigiana, or gnocchi.
There is a great selection of appetisers too such as: meatballs, suppli, grissini, panzerotti or croquettes, with dipping sauces; antipasti misto; a variety of bruschetta; and focaccia.
The venture is owned by local restaurateur Attilio Sergi, who already owns Pasta 51 Express in Liverpool city centre, as well as the Trattoria 51 restaurants on the Promenade in Southport and on Old Hall Street in Liverpool.
Attilio said: “The reaction since we opened Pasta 51 Express at Southport Market has been really good! The response has been fantastic.
“We have seen lots of people eat their meal from us and then return to say ‘thank you’ – that is the best feedback.

“We have been very busy since we opened.
“Lots of people in Southport know me already from eating at Trattoria 51. I have been in Southport for 20 years now.
“Opening here has been a really good move for us.
“I feel that Pasta 51 Express is bringing a good addition to the experience at Southport Market. It is something which I think was much needed there. As well as fresh pasta and fresh sauces and other Italian favourites, we also have lots of vegan and gluten free options.”
Attilio is a big admirer of Southport Market and is delighted to join the other eateries in there, which include the likes of 600 Degrees Pizza, Hector’s Mexicana, The Allotment, Pitamu, Down And Oot, Vincent Pacific, Conehead, Cake Corner, Blackhurst Butchers and the Market Bar, selling food from around the world.
He said: “The vibe in Southport Market is really good. We have a good relationship with the other traders there already.
“Southport Market is a great place to be. It is the best thing that has happened to Southport. I know that more investment is being planned in the next couple of years in the town.

“There is a good mix of families in there, younger people, older people, there is something for everyone.
“The most important thing is the sense of community that Southport Market brings, something which we have not had in these past couple of years. It is great to see that coming back.”
Attilio Sergi opened the popular Trattoria 51 restaurant on the Promenade in Southport in 2003, and later opened the Trattoria 51 restaurant on Old Hall Street in Liverpool city centre. He has 45 years of experience in the business and even more experience of making fresh pasta.
He was born and raised in Santa Maria di Leuca, Puglia – ‘the home of tomatoes’ – at the heel of Italy. His family grew special wheat crops for pasta and his childhood was spent helping his mother to prepare fresh pasta, just like many generations have done before.
He said: “There has been something missing at Southport Market, and Pasta 51 Express is looking to fill that gap.
“For people who love Italian food, there is already an excellent pizza outlet – 600 Degrees Pizza – I am looking to provide customers with fresh pasta and fresh sauce, along with appetisers such as bruschetta, antipasti, meatballs, panzerotti and others. There will be some great sharing experiences, and some nibbles.
“I have tried to keep the prices down, so it will all be very affordable for people.
“I make all my own pasta, pasta fresca. We make all our sauces fresh too.
“It seems to be very busy there in Southport Market already!”
