People are invited to enjoy this year’s beautiful Halsall Christmas Tree Festival this weekend.
The popular local event takes place at St Cuthbert’s Church in Halsall (L39 8RR) on Saturday, 11th December and Sunday, 12th December.
The church will be open to visitors between 1pm and 5pm each day.
This stunning landmark building is Grade I Listed, with the oldest parts of the church dating from the 14th century.
Event organiser Enid Banks said: “We welcome everyone to pay a visit to our ancient parish church to see it in its Christmas splendour, with Christmas trees decorated by businesses, schools and local people.
“The event is free, light refreshments will be served. All donations are used directly for the fabric of our beautiful church.
“Entertaining us with festive songs on Saturday at 1.30pm will be Hope Street Mental Health Services ‘Carousel Hope Street Choir’. Following their performance, around 2pm CD Music Academy students will also be singing.
“Edward Carr, our church organist, will be playing festive music on the church organ for us during the weekend.”

There are more festive events at St Cuthbert’s Church in Halsall that people can enjoy.
Enid Banks said: “On Sunday, 19th December at 4pm Marshside Brass Band will be joining us for Carols around the tree.
“On Christmas Eve at 4pm there will be the ever popular Christingle service, with the Midnight Eucharist at 11pm.
“On Christmas Day there will be a short service at 10am.
