The British Musical Fireworks in Southport

The much-missed British Musical Fireworks Championship starts tonight – but Saturday’s event has already SOLD OUT!

The spectacular event returns to Victoria Park in Southport this Friday, Saturday and Sunday (24th-26th September) after being sadly postponed last year due to the Covid pandemic.

Thousands of fireworks fans will be left in awe of breath-taking colourful pyro displays, light shows and music throughout the competition, which will see five pyrotechnic companies and two exhibition displays take to the skies above the resort.

People have clearly missed one of the North West’s most popular events, with Saturday already a sell-out, and visitors encouraged to take up tickets for Friday and Sunday while they can.

The Southport Musical Fireworks Championship is organised by the Sefton Council Tourism team, which recently organised the successful Southport Food and Drink Festival.

A Sefton Council Tourism spokesperson said: “So it seems you missed us…. Saturday 25th is now SOLD OUT!

“Please book tickets for Friday and Sunday online ASAP… don’t leave it until the day.”

Tickets are on sale online at:  www.visitsouthport.com

People may be able to pay at the gate if there are any tickets left, but the event has frequently sold out in previous years.

The running order is:

Friday 24th September

18:00 – Gates open

19:00 – Pre-show entertainment

20:00 – Sirotechnics ‘Champion of Champions’ exhibition display

Sunday 26th September

Cllr Marion Atkinson, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills, said: “Having been running for well over 20 years, the Championship is always a hugely popular three day event and brings in crowds from across the North of England for a unique and stunning experience.

“Local businesses really benefit from the added footfall to the town over the weekend and I am looking forward to seeing the quality of displays on show this time round.

“If you are thinking of attending please try and get tickets in advance to avoid missing out as tickets go fast!”

A number of general admission tickets are still available for all three nights starting from £6, with seated tickets starting from £20. For further details and to book tickets head to www.visitsouthport.com
