Company bosses have rewarded their employees for their efforts during a challenging year by buying them each a £50 Southport Gift Card.
Directors at Kitchequip Iain Moir and Darren Hall are delighted to deliver the presents to 11 of their hard-working staff to thank them for everything they have done during months disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The balance of their team live and work outside of the area.
Kitchequip would usually treat its workforce to a good Christmas night out.
But Iain and Darren decided that at a time when many local businesses are struggling, giving their staff Southport Gift Cards would be a great way of allowing them to choose whatever they wanted from a range of over 70 local businesses while also supporting the local economy.
Southport Gift Card, which was launched by Southport BID earlier this year, is accepted by local shops, restaurants, hotels, attractions, and now by Morrisons supermarket.
Iain said: “As we cannot have a staff Christmas party this year we have just placed an order for eleven £50 Southport Gift Cards.
“We would normally take our employees for a Christmas night out, so we thought what can we do this year instead?
“There is a good selection of places in Southport that now accept the new Southport Gift Card.
“It is good to see lots of local businesses signing up to it.”

Southport BID CEO Rachel Fitzgerald said: “It is great to see Kitchequip ordering these Southport Gift Cards for their staff this Christmas.
“I would like to encourage other employers locally to do something similar.
“Kitchequip is rewarding its employees and supporting the local economy at the same time, keeping spend right here in Southport.
“People have gone through a difficult year and this is a great way to reward them.
“The campaign we are running now is asking everyone to stay local, and to spend local.
“Our Southport Gift Card initiative is a great way of doing that. We need to support our high street.
“Southport Gift Card is free for any businesses that want to use it.
“They get to keep all the money they receive because there is no admin charge.
“If someone pays £25 in a certain shop through Southport Gift Card, then that business will get that full amount.”
