An authentic French-style bistrot in Southport has reopened after four months in lockdown on the best day possible – Bastille Day!
Bistrot Vérité, in Birkdale Village, was among restaurants which were forced to close when the coronavirus pandemic hit the UK in March.
They were much missed by their customers. So in recent weeks they have been providing a brand new service, Meals To Reheat At Home, which has allowed their customers to enjoy restaurant quality food at home during the coronavirus lockdown.
They were delighted to finally welcome diners back into their premises on Liverpool Road tonight and urged people to go out and support restaurants and other local businesses which have been struggling during lockdown.
Bistrot Vérité owner Marc Vérité said: “We only opened tonight (Tuesday). We had to take a few tables out of the Bistrot for social distancing so we are not sure how things will go just yet but it has been great to welcome customers back.
“We have put all the Covid-19 safety precautions in place to make all our customers and team members feel safe.

“I am sure that over the next few weeks people will hopefully be feeling that they will have more confidence to venture to eateries around the town.
“I hope that as well as ourselves that the people of Southport will be supporting all our local businesses which have been struggling since lockdown.
“We are in a totally different world than we were three months ago and we all need to come together and support one another in these very trying times.”
Bistrot Vérité will continue offering customers their Meals To Reheat At Home service after it proved to be extremely popular. Meals on offer change all the time, with dishes this week for example including: tender cooked beef blade bourguignon with creamy mash (£12); Cornish hake supreme with lemon and thyme velouté (£12); and Moroccan vegetable crepe glazed with mozzarella (£8).

Marc Vérité said: “We are carrying on doing our at home menu which we post on social media every week.
“People can phone from Wednesday for next day pick up. I am not sure how it will go, but I think that there are quite a few people who either can’t go out or don’t feel confident yet to go out, so we will carry on.”
Marc and Michaela Verite opened Bistrot Vérité in 2009, fulfilling their dream of running a small, authentic French-style restaurant.
Being able to boast a beautiful outside seating area, at the centre of picturesque Birkdale Village, is a great asset for them.
Marc said: “We aim to delight with the sights, sounds, aromas and, most of all, taste of great cooking and to feed people well. We put our heart and soul into it and want our customers to enjoy every mouthful, every moment.
“The menu is always changing, with seasonal, quality ingredients sourced locally wherever possible and given a French twist. We are very proud of what we have achieved so far at Bistrot Vérité and are happy to share it with friends and visitors alike.”
