It’s another busy weekend in Southport!
There are lots of great events happening, from the Enchanted Fields Festival at Victoria Park, to the opening of a new exhibition at The Atkinson and the annual Armed Forces Day parade and flypast.

1 – Enchanted Fields Festival

The Enchanted Fields Festival is excited to announce a unique weekend of yoga, wellness and family entertainment in Southport this summer.
The Festival will take place at Victoria Park from Friday, 24th June to Saturday, 26th June 2022.
A huge array of wellness activities will be on offer including; yoga sessions, meditations, cocoa ceremonies, womb healing, yin, Pilates, somatics and workshops, in the tranquil setting of the park, which is a stone’s throw from the sea.
There will also be heaps of entertainment, with three huge marquees hosting live music, spoken word and dance workshops, followed by light and fire performances in the evening.

2 – Classic Car & Motorcycle Transport Fundraising Event-Macmillan & North West Blood Bikes
Southport Auto Centre on Wright Street in Southport town centre is holding its annual fundraising open day on Saturday 25th June help raise much needed funds for Macmillan Cancer Support & North West Blood Bikes.
A large selection of vintage classic cars & motorcycles will be on display.
Great raffle prizes & exclusive items to buy on the day, refreshments available all day.

3 – Barnum in the Blood exhibition

A new exhibition will open at The Atkinson in Southport this June dedicated to Southport Pleasureland owner Norman Wallis.
‘Barnum in the Blood: Six Generations, One Passion’ will open at The Atkinson, on Lord Street, on Saturday, 25th June 2022 and will run until Saturday 17th December 2022. Admission free.
A spokesperson for The Atkinson said: “Discover the story of the sixth generation showman behind Southport’s historic Pleasureland.
“From a young age Norman Wallis worked on his father’s rides and his grandfather was known as The Seaforth Barnum.
“Today he’s driving Pleasureland’s new heyday. The best is yet to come.”

4 – Southport International Short Film Festival

The full line-up has been published for the Southport International Short Film Festival – a fantastic range of films in a wonderful town venue, the Southport Bijou Cinema.
It’s not pricey, you can get tickets for individual sessions and also a weekend pass.
The great thing about short film programmes is that if you don’t particularly like one, you know that a different one is coming along very shortly!

5 – Southport Arts Trail

Southport Arts Trail 2022 is returning to town this summer, with a whole host of fun activities for people to enjoy between Saturday, 4th June – on The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend – and running until Saturday, 25th June, with its final day today.
It’s now 13 years since Southport Contemporary Arts was conceived and unveiled for the first time in 2009 its network of independent artists living and working in Southport and surrounding areas, from its newly acquired base at the ArtHouse in Eastbank Street.
Continuously applauded for its well established calendar of wide-ranging exhibitions and public events in support of local artists, designers and makers, 2022 sees the welcome return of SCA’s annual Arts Trail & Open Studios event that has refreshingly showcased the wide-ranging cultural activities within the region since 2010.
Each year the SCA team has successfully maintained this unique free public Arts Event in celebration of a esteemed creative community that continues to make such a valuable contribution to the cultural life in Southport.

6 – Southport Armed Forces Day

People are invited to enjoy Southport Armed Forces Day on Sunday 26th June 2022.
The event will take place between 11am and 4pm and will include a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Hurricane flypast.
Local Veterans from SSAFA Sefton (The Armed Forces Charity) based at RAF Woodvale are preparing to hold the event in front of Southport Town Hall.
Starting the event off will be a Drumhead Service at 11am in the Town Hall Gardens.
The Southport Armed Forces Day Parade will start at 11.30am on Chapel Street, with marchers taking the salute at Southport Town Hall.
A number of road closures will be in place in Southport town centre, with Southport Half Marathon also taking place on the same day.

7 – Southport Half Marathon

This Sunday will see Southport Half Marathon return for its 8th and best edition to date, on the traffic free route which includes Lord Street in Southport town centre. It starts at 9am.
The route is the only running event in the history of Southport to be permitted to close Lord Street to traffic and allow participants to run through the heart of this famous seaside resort with blingtastic medals and tech T-Shirts for all finishers. Fully UKA Licensed with HM & 10k courses accurately measured and officially certified distances.
Fylde Coast Runners have taken over the reins of this event which was formerly organised by Epic Events.
