There’s lots for families to enjoy this Halloween in Southport!
From Halloween movies, to slime making, Halloween Comedy Bingo, Books Alive events, and real-life ghost trains there’s plenty to enjoy!
1 – Halloween at Southport Bijou Cinema
As ever, Southport’s much-loved independent cinema has a packed schedule of the hottest horror films to celebrate Halloween and half term.
For families there’s Coraline, Corpse Bride, Scooby Doo and more. .

2 – The Jolly Postman trail
Families are invited to follow The Jolly Postman Trail throughout Southport town centre during the brand new Books Alive! event.
There are nine large-scale story installations to discover from 24th – 31st October 2026, 10am – 4pm daily.
Inspired by the beloved children’s book ‘The Jolly Postman or Other People’s Letters’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg, The Jolly Postman Trail transforms Southport town centre into a living storybook, inviting families to follow his journey as he delivers letters to favourite fairytale characters.
They include The Wicked Witch by Katy Lancaster, Phaedra Samantha and Venya Krutikov at Wayfarers Arcade on Lord Street in Southport.
Make CIC has been commissioned to work with artists from across the Liverpool City Region to create the nine installations and bring memorable characters and moments from the story to life.
The installations can be visited in any order, so you can create your own storybook adventure through the town centre – you can view the map here.
3 – Halloween at The Waters Edge
Calling all little witches, wizards, ghosts and monsters!
Get ready for a whole week of SPOOKY FUN at The Waters Edge, Leisure Lakes!
They have got a fantastic line-up of Halloween activities to keep the little ones entertained throughout October half-term!

4 – Halloween Slime
Southport Market
Wednesday 28th October 2026
Get ready for some slime-tastic fun with Pebbles & Treasure at Southport Market!
During this fun-filled 45-minute session, children will get hands-on mixing, kneading and colouring their very own slime creation. They can add glitter and other exciting extras to make their slime completely unique!
Once their slime is ready, there’ll be time to put it to the test, blowing bubbles, stretching it and seeing what amazing patterns they can create.
Aprons and gloves will be provided, but we recommend wearing suitable clothing as things may get a little messy!
The session is suitable for all ages, although younger children may need some help from their parent or carer. Parents/carers must remain with their child throughout the session.

8 – Halloween Family Comedy Bingo

People are invited to enjoy Halloween with a smile with Halloween Comedy Bingo!
There will be two spooky sessions to enjoy – a daytime event for all the family and then a second one in the event for over-18s only.
They take place inside a luxury heated and seated marquee by Elite Marquees at Victoria Park in Southport on Saturday 31st October 2026, hosted by comedian Brendan Riley.
All ages are welcome at the daytime sessions, with doors opening at midday and the session ending at 5pm.
Enjoy comedy bingo and entertainment throughout the afternoon.
This is perfect for families and younger guests, with Halloween-themed games, prizes, music, and plenty of laughs.
That will be followed by the evening Halloween Comedy Bingo for adults only sponsored by Dragon Soop , with comedy bingo and entertainment, and the large bar open throughout.
