I am a teaching assistant in Farnborough Road Junior School as well as a Relax Kids coach. I have over 15 years’ experience of working with children.
As a Relax Kids coach, I offer classes and products to help children manage anxiety and stress whilst boosting self-esteem and confidence.
It is so important at these unprecedented times during the coronavirus outbreak, and also during Mental Health Awareness Week, that we as parents / carers support our children’s mental health and wellbeing as much as we can.
So, if there is any support that we can give to our children we should, as they are slowly negotiating going back to school.
As a Relax Kids Coach, I can offer tips and advice to local families to support them with this. It is an extremely hard time for us as adults and our younger community too. We need to ensure we can offer all the support we can.

We as parents / carers have now become teachers and support workers ourselves. I myself have found it challenging, but we can only do the best we can. The schools have been amazing, offering home learning activities for all our children and some becoming support networks for our families.
Amongst all this chaos we must remember to be ‘kind’ to ourselves and our loved ones. And not to be too hard on ourselves and others as we are all dealing with this situation in our own ways.
I believe one of the most important things to continue with is our daily exercise, or even find the love for something new: art, reading, gardening, baking, playing an instrument or running (which has been my saviour). Getting into a daily routine I think is a good idea too.
When things have been tough for myself and my children, I have encouraged breathing exercises which helps improve our health, anxiety and promotes a sense of calm. Time in our own calm space listening to music or doing a lovely mindful activity. Also checking in with their friends and family members – even if It is just a simple text.
Furthermore, as adults we need to be offering a calm, safe and relaxed environment in these ever-changing times.
Remember you are ALL amazing and doing a great job, remember to be Kind to yourself and others around.
